We have Happy Hour every Thursday afternoon from 4 to 6 o’clock at the shop and all are welcome. However, be forewarned.... there are no martinis and if there's dancing on the bar well, we'll never tell.
Happy Hour has become a community gathering place for makers where we share our work, show off old projects finally finished and begin new. We generously pass on our skills to newbies and encourage each other in our crafts. Gathered are knitters, spinners, quilters and everything in between. And laugh. There’s a lot of laughter.
So why call it Happy Hour?
Because throughout my life when times got tough I went to a fabric or a yarn store. There’s something comforting about being enveloped by shelves of fibers, either woven or spun. I could sit for hours flipping through pattern books. Dreaming of a new dress. Knitting a new scarf. Quilting says, ‘I Love You’.
I always liked the small independent shops the best. Entering one gave me the feeling of being on the receiving end of a big hug. Those shops said,” Come on in. Sit a spell. Oh, look at the colors. Doesn’t this yarn feel wonderful? Or, maybe this one?” All the possibilities of happiness packed into four walls. All that time. Those were happy hours.
And, so now explained, the Happy Hour at the Emporium makes sense. Doesn’t it?
The Eastport Fabric Emporium was created with that same idea in mind. Its a place of empowerment, creativity, and filled with the sheer joy of creating something with your hands. We offer the best materials to work with so that the outcome of your projects equal the love you put into them. That’s what we’re About. Many happy hours.
